The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
Two hoards of this date have been recovered, one small group from a plantation in Mississippi in 1974, but these are identified by grime and grit from residing many years underground, and while technically uncirculated, tend not to have decent surfaces, the other group was recovered from an ocean wreck, and these have the salt water erosion appearance.
