Description & Analysis

While the 1928-S boasts a considerably higher mintage than its similarly dated P-mint counterpart (1.6 million pieces vs. 360,649 pieces), the former issue has a much lower certified population in MS65. It is the typically encountered striking incompleteness for S-mint Peace Dollars that keeps most extant '28-S examples from grading finer than MS64, although unsightly bagmarks also play a part.
