The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
David Lawrence in his Complete Guide noted that this date is 'very tough in grades of AU55 through Mint State' and continuing 'A sleeper in Mint State and underrated.' Advanced collectors know to ignore the mintage in this case (2,494,000 pieces), and go by the Census Report to get a true idea of what is out there in various grades. It is unlikely that more than a few Gem Mint State coins remain tucked away in collections, if any at all, which have not yet been certified.
