The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
Longacre's Legend Obverse design made its debut in the Seated dime series in 1860. There were two hub types used for the proofs of this year. The first hub shows very little of the fourth red stripe in the obverse shield above the ribbon with LIBERTY, the second type shows much more of this stripe above the ribbon. (The stripe in question is the fourth from the viewer's left).
