Description & Analysis

This is by far the more often seen variety of 1909 Lincoln proof cent, and the mintage figure has not been the subject of argument. This issue is slightly better in quality as made, since the Mint gained experience with the first edition and perfected the process with these later proofs.

Very few examples have survived with original red color, and far more have been improperly cleaned over the years.
