The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
Jeff Garrett: The 1925 Double Eagle can only be considered common in most grades. Thousands have been graded and even MS 66 coins are considered one of the most available for the series. One doubled die reverse has been reported (FS-801) and NGC has certified two examples of this date as MS 66. Other examples of this die variety will likely be discovered.
