The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
The 1906 twenty dollar gold piece is clearly an undervalued coin. Despite a relatively small mintage of 69,596 coins, circulated examples of the 1906 double eagle are often valued on par with other dates within the series that were issued by the millions. The value discrepancy changes quickly above the MS63 level as few examples exist, and most of those that are available have only come into the marketplace with the past few decades, thanks to the repatriation of some European holdings.
