The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
An estimated 150-175 pieces are known and this date ranks right in the middle of the half eagles from this mint in terms of high grade and overall rarity. Most 1860-C half eagles are found in VF and XF and properly graded AUs are quite scarce with three dozen or so known. In Uncirculated there appear to be around six to eight known.
