The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
The Capped Head Left half eagle is one of the most difficult U.S. types to acquire. A few dates, such as the 1813, 1818, 1820, and 1823, emerge on occasion, while the other dates are significant rarities. The 1826 appears at auction only every few years, usually in Mint State and out of the reach of most collectors.
