The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
The 1905 (217,944 pieces produced), which probably did not see widespread circulation at the time of issue, is typically offered in or near Mint State. Approximately seven thousand pieces are known in Uncirculated grades, through the combined efforts of NGC and PCGS. A sizeable majority of those coins are certified at grade levels between MS61 and MS66, however, and fewer than one hundred have received the MS67 designation (8/05).
