Description & Analysis

Like several Peace dollar issues, the 1926 has a low mintage. In this case, only 1.9 million pieces were struck. In the early 1940s, the 1926 was considered the scarcest Peace dollar. Then various hoards emerged of this and other issues over the next 25 years, and today this date is considered a relatively available issue in mint condition. Of the hoard coins that have emerged over the decades, most 1926 Peace dollars do not seem to have suffered from the extensive bagmarks that plague other issues.
