The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
The Legend Obverse, Arrows at Date Seated Dime was produced only in 1873 and 1874, although the weight increase that it signified would remain in effect through the end of the series in 1891. Both of the former dates saw the production of proofs in the Philadelphia Mint. It has been our experience that survivors of both issues are roughly equal in availability despite the 1874 having been produced in slightly smaller numbers.
